On Saturday, April 18th, Patti, Allison and I headed off to Delhi, India for five jam packed days of inspiration, discovery and development. We had a layover in Doha, Qatar, a small country on the Persian Gulf that is now home to my new favorite airport, it was gorgeous!
Is this an airport or a fancy hotel?
Making Friends in Duty-Free! We arrived in Delhi, at 3 am Monday (yes we left Saturday!), and were off to start our adventure in India.
First stop for inspiration.. customs! In our 4 days in Delhi we visited some of our amazing trade partners and saw where they produce some of our treasures, while also meeting new partners that we’ve found along the way. India is known for it’s silks, unique fabric dyeing processes and beautiful patterns. I had so much fun – and was so inspired – just driving through the city, it is full of color and design.
Happy Tuk-Tuk!
Inspiration is everywhere! Even on the side of the highway!
Even the cows in India like to accessorize!
The other part of our trip was visiting local markets to find inspiration for future products. We visited Dilli Haat, Khan Market, and Chandni Chowk which is almost 400 years old! The markets were full of color, texture, pattern & people. Allison and I were especially popular with the locals because of our blonde hair, we felt like celebrities!
Coral beads galore!
Trims with mirrored beads and metallic thread are always a NL favorite.
A seamstress shop – we loved the pink walls and aqua doors!
I think Indian markets are my new happy place – but a Happy Fan & a Boho Bandeau are a must-have!
Selfie post-marketplace! India is a beautiful country, with kind people, inspiring landscapes, rich culture and yummy food. We love to travel the world for inspiration and to learn new ways to make better products for our followers. Namaste!
